FAQ

We pioneered our way through this video figuring out how to do things. Here are some answers to questions:

Why did it take 6 months?

We obviously didn't work on this 8 hours a day for 6 months. It was, as we said, when ever all of our free time was at the same time. Some weeks went by and nothing was filmed or worked on. We still had school and work.

How much of the bus was green screen and how much was shot for real?

The bus was all supposed to be real but when it came the day of the soot the bus driver informed us that insurance wouldn't allow us to be on the bus while it is moving. So with quick thinking we took pictures of all sides of the bus and built it in Motion's 3D environment. The actors were then filmed against a green screen and placed into each window. for the initial bus scene we just rotoscoped the bus and had it pull up. (notice the wheels don't move)

Did you do double exposure to get the pigeons to fly up the right way?

In the first shot with pigeons they are filmed at a park and then the grass was rotoscoped out. For the second shot, we caught 3 pigeons and threw them at Kellen (Max). So it had one take and it had to be right.

For the show-stopping final shot, did you actually use a jib? Or something cheaper?

We were lent a real jib for this scene. This is the only shot that used a jib.

How did the principal's toupee float around in space so long?

You were right about the string. The toupee is on a fishing pole and there is a guy just off screen knowing when to pull. We later painted out the string in Motion.

Why doesn't the girl have a belly button?

The cartoon girl doesn't have a belly button either. We took all details into consideration and thought it would be funny.
